Sanket Kulkarni, presented a paper at the IDSA as part of his Fellow’s Seminar on India’s decision making on cross border gas pipelines. The paper provides a historical overview on the decision making process in the Indian Government between 1989-2012.
Taking case studies of Myanmar-Bangladesh-India (MBI) gas pipeline, Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the paper undertakes a detailed analysis of different factors that influenced India’s decision to join or not join certain pipeline projects.
