Dr. Bhupendra Jassani has been with the Department of War Studies, King’s College since 1990. He has been working on the use of commercial remote sensing satellites for applications to monitor multilateral arms control treaties, confidence building measures and peacekeeping operations. He has been involved with reports for the IAEA on behalf of UK and German Governments which led to the IAEA establishing a Satellite Imagery Analysis Laboratory. Between 1987 and 1990 he was Rockwell International Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence Studies, London. Prior to that between 1972 and 1987 he was with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Stockholm. He was also associated with the British Medical Research Council between 1958-1972. Dr Jassani holds a PhD in Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Medicine. Prof Jasani has been involved informally with the activities of ISSSP for a number of years. He has lectured at NIAS on satellite imagery of nuclear installations and the key he has developed. He has freely shared his experience, data and sources for ISSSP’s use.
